Slumdog
Millionaire famed star Freida Pinto made her first
appearance at the international Indian Film Academy (IIFA) social event in
Madrid. The US-based Indian actress will be privileged with the International
Icon award at the 17th edition of the gala, which will initiate on Thursday.
IIFA -- often known as Bollywood's Oscars -- is held
annually to honor the best of Hindi film. A source from the IIFA team established
that Freida will be getting the award. In a short length of her profession in
the acting industry, Freida has imprinted a place of her own in world pictures
through her portrayals in movies like
Slumdog Millionaire, Miral, Day of the Falcon, Immortals, Desert Dancer and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Freida is not all about allure and pictures. She has
also contributed her bit for the society -- be it supporting a social foundation
like Girl Rising movement or getting
together with female stars for a production house to solve the issue of gender difference
in Hollywood. After attending the awards ceremony on Sunday, Freida will fly
off straight to Monrovia to meet the First Lady of the US Michelle Obama for Let Girls Learn -- a government enterprise
meant for serving girls obtain value education.
